HOPE

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf.” Hebrews 6:19-20

What hope is there for the soul, apart from the person and saving work of Jesus Christ? In Him we find forgiveness for our deepest sins, never-ending grace, and the promise of eternal glory in fellowship with Him. He is the great High Priest, who intercedes on our behalf, and whose sacrifice has secured our salvation once and for all. He is the reconciler of our broken relationship with God, allowing us to draw near to the throne of grace with confidence on the basis of His perfect righteousness. He is our forerunner, who goes before us and prepares a place for us in glory, so that our hope does not end with our life on this Earth, but continues into eternity.

The child that was born in a lowly manger went on to live a perfect and sinless life, dying on the cross to conquer death and granting undeserving sinners salvation. This hope is a steadfast anchor of the soul, immutable and unshakable, which is brought to fruition in Christ, the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). May the knowledge of this hope result in continual praise and worship to the One who has secured it for us by His grace!
