The Christian church throughout the ages has fought the battle for justification by faith alone for centuries. There’s one thing we have to understand; that is, by faith we are saved and it is faith only that saves us, but it is faith that produces obedience. The reformers’ passion was to stress the importance of the distinction between faith and obedience. You cannot have faith and it not produce a holy life, and you cannot separate obedience from the source, which is faith.

They are both perfectly intertwined, and obedience flows out of faith. The meaning of faith can be compared to an apple tree. The root and tree is faith and the apple that grows from the branches is obedience. Throughout the Scripture God emphasizes the important of genuine faith. In the book of Hebrews 11:6 God says, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” Therefore, we must examine all our lives and remember the faith God worked in our lives to believe upon him, turning from our wicked sin.

This will lead us to eternity with Him, saving us from the wrath of God unto a life of peace, love, forgiveness, and communion with the Holy Trinity forever and ever.
